Bruh I just had sleep paralysis and I’m like fuckin terrified. First of all I only slept for 40 mins but I felt like I was sleeping for hours bc my dream was so elaborate. It was Brett’s shift and we had an office in the back specifically for customer service calls and I’ve had this dream before. It’s like this creepy room with a hole in the floor that’s covered by a carpet. Well in the last dream we were all cleaning it but anyway. So. On my way to the back I see Charles lmao and he’s like yapping to me and I’m just like letting him yap and he’s talking about how everyone is deep cleaning the store. So when I get back to the customer service area I’m like I’ll just clean up so I start cleaning out Christmas decorations and I’m like pulling up stuff off the floor and I see the hole and I’m like “we still didn’t fix this?” So I like devise a plan to fix it like I’m gonna put a pallet over it and then steal some card board to make a ramp to the chair will still glide over it and then put the carpet back over it. The phone rings, I answer, no one’s there. I’m like ok so I go back under the desk to start pulling more stuff up and I see a blanket and decide I’m going to just take a nap and I like wrap myself in the blanket and fall asleep and then I hear the phone ringing so I wake up and I’m wrapped in the blanket. Mind you in real life I am also wrapped in my blanket. I can’t get out of the blanket and I can’t move and I’m trying to call for help. And then BRO THIS IS WHAT FREAKED ME OUT LIKE TELL ME THIS IS NOT A DEMON THING AND ITS A SLEEP PARALYSIS THING PLEASE I start feeling a dog nose on my cheek and like paws on my side but when I open my eyes I see that I’m still in the customer service room but now I know it’s a dream and I think it’s my dog sniffing me and my sisters in my room bc like in my mind why can I physically feel the dog if it’s not real so I close my eyes again thinking I’ll wake up any second. and my mouth is kinda working so I’m like sorta saying “help me” and “Tupac” cuz I’m trying to get my dog to lick my face. And I started feeling calm again bc I was convinced it was my dog and that it’s just that I slept through my alarm or something and my sis is gonna wake me up any second. Then the presence/dog goes away and I shoot up and look around AND NO ONE IS IN MY ROOM NO DOG AND I ONLY BEEN ASLEEP 40 MINUTES LIKE WHAT HAPPENED TO ME 😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭
It's understandable to feel unsettled by your experience with sleep paralysis. Let's break down the dream and the phenomenon involved:
Sleep Paralysis: First and foremost, the sensations and experiences you described are classic symptoms of sleep paralysis. During sleep paralysis, your body is in a state of REM atonia, meaning your brain is awake, but your body is still in a sleep-like state, preventing movement. This is a naturally occurring condition that happens to everyone during REM sleep to prevent us from acting out our dreams. Sometimes, you might wake up before this state has fully ended, leading to the experience of sleep paralysis.
The Setting: Your dream takes place in a familiar environment, which is an office you've dreamed of before. Recurrent dream settings can indicate that your subconscious mind is processing unresolved issues or feelings related to that place. The hole in the floor might symbolize an unresolved problem or vulnerability that you are aware of but haven't fully addressed.
Charles and Cleaning: Seeing coworkers like Charles in your dream could relate to your workplace dynamics or how you interact with those around you. The act of cleaning might symbolize a desire to clear out issues in your life or to tidy up something that feels out of order.
The Phone and Inaction: The phone calls with no response could represent communication issues or a feeling of disconnectedness, either in your waking life or internally.
Blanket and Paralysis: The act of wrapping yourself in a blanket and sleeping mirrors your physical reality. Feeling trapped in the blanket during your sleep paralysis adds to this surreal blend of dream and waking life.
Dog/Presence: Feeling a dog’s presence during sleep paralysis is not uncommon. Many people report feeling a presence or having tactile hallucinations during these episodes. Your mind, trying to make sense of this sensation, might have related it to your dog, blending dream logic with sensory input from your real environment.
Calling for Help and Calm: Trying to call out for help and feeling your dog’s comforting presence reflects your mind seeking reassurance. Tupac, being associated with your dog, is part of your attempt to focus on something familiar and reassuring to calm yourself.
Waking Reality: When the "presence" left and you fully woke up, it confirmed the intensity of the sleep paralysis experience. The fact that it felt much longer than 40 minutes is also common, as vivid dreams can distort our perception of time.
Conclusion: Remember, what you experienced is a natural, albeit frightening, phenomenon. There's no demon at work here; it's a blending of dream imagery and waking consciousness that is quite common during sleep paralysis episodes. Understanding that many people experience such events can sometimes provide comfort. Managing stress, maintaining good sleep hygiene, and practicing relaxation techniques can help reduce the chances of future episodes.
